The Hotel School Sydney is a unique partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia’s Hotel portfolio [InterContinental Sydney, Hayman Island, Sanctuary Cove, Hyatt at Sanctuary Cove, Hilton Airport, Melbourne, and Bimbadgen winery in the Hunter Valley, NSW]. Paid internship is an attractive feature of the program, as is its proximity to the five star hotel InterContinental [adjacent]. The School is positioned in the heart of the CBD, with the Harbour, Opera House and Botanical Gardens on its doorstep.
Since its inception in 1989, The Hotel School initially operated as an integral part of the InterContinental Sydney, but now due to growth and demand, now has close working relationships with many leading hotel and tourism organisations in Sydney and around the world.
Whilst Switzerland is perceived by many as the long established home of hospitality, Australia is now regarded as the new, innovative and strategic centre of tourism and hospitality education. Our infrastructure of world-class hotels and educational facilities, currency in curriculum, innovation in delivery, and genuine Australian hospitality make for a great learning environment.
The program is focused on hotel operational skills, management practice in the tourism and hospitality industry and the skills needed for continued learning in a changing global business environment.
In 2006/7 The Hotel School has 370 enrolled students; 300 from Australia and a further 70 international students from 32 different countries.
