Since 1991 the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS), a founding member of the ORION hotel schools global alliance, has provided international qualifications in hospitality management to over 3,000 graduates, many now in senior management positions worldwide.
BMIHMS delivers a higher education Diploma of Food and Beverage Management, a choice of an Associate Degree of Hotel and Resort Management or Associate Degree of Tourism Management towards a three-year Bachelor of Business (Hotel Management) degree, quality endorsed by The University of Queensland.
BMIHMS had its Diploma and Associate Degree qualifications gain accreditation from the Hospitality Institute, the only internationally recognised professional management association for the industry. In 2005 BMIHMS was certified as a quality educator by the UN World Tourism Organisation (WTO).
As well as attending lectures, seminars and tutorials, students gain rigorous practical training and learn discipline, teamwork and leadership skills as the staff of a fully operational, simulated hotel on the BMIHMS campus. Working and living with students from 31 different nationalities is a great introduction for a career in an international industry.
BMIHMS courses also include periods of paid industry placement with employers in Australia and abroad. The Career Development program has full-time staff dedicated to matching each student to their industry placements.The program also conducts a weekly guest lecturer program of industry recruitment talks and the third year selective Graduate Privileged Partners Program links our top students to six hotel industry partners for management traineeships.
A modern, state-of-the-art, fully residential campus, BMIHMS is located on two hectares of well-established gardens in Leura in the World Heritage listed national park of the Blue Mountains, one of Australia's top tourism destinations.
