The Australian International Hotel School (AIHS), a member of the ORION hotel schools global alliance, offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in hotel management. The School is based in the national capital of Australia, Canberra, home to some of Australia’s best universities.
The AIHS offers a Bachelor of Business degree, focused on hotel management and quality endorsed by The University of Queensland with articulation into the Masters of Hotel Management and Masters of Hotel Management (Gastronomy). As well as the academic components, programs include an intensive practical internship with the Hotel Kurrajong and paid industry placements with other employers.
Both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses cover all areas of management including operations management, human resources management, financial management, business and management communication, food & beverage management, marketing management, tourism management, information technology and law.
The AIHS operates a fully commercial four-star boutique hotel, the historic Hotel Kurrajong, Canberra's premier boutique hotel, which enables students to gain experience in all areas of hotel operation and exposure to providing a high standard of service to both corporate and leisure guests. As a member of the Swiss-Belhotel group, the hotel offers graduates opportunities to enter the industry through one of its partner properties across Australia and Asia.
AIHS hosts the ORION Research Centre (ORC), a partnership between ORION hotel schools global alliance and The School of Tourism, The University of Queensland, which funds research projects relevant to the development of the hotel industry.
AIHS also offers, through a partner institute, intensive English language training for international students who have not acquired the English language level required for entry into the program.
